After Round Five of the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup, we see the likely title contenders begin to emerge.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers 30 defeat Gungahlin Bulls 10

The Tuggeranong Bushrangers have claimed an impressive win away from home against the Gungahlin Bulls. 

A double for winger Jayden Pollard, along with a try and three goals from hooker Liam Oakley ensured the Bushrangers claimed their second win of the season. 

The loss for the Bulls sinks them to their third loss of the season, with the assignments only getting tougher with an away trip to the defending premiers next weekend, while Tuggeranong have the bye. 

Belconnen United Sharks 48 defeat Goulburn City Bulldogs 8 

The Belconnen United Sharks secured a comprehensive forty point victory at home this weekend against the Goulburn City Bulldogs. 

The Sharks have moved inside the top four with a strong team performance, Yuri Hromow a standout scoring a hatrick on the wing. 

The Bulldogs have suffered their forth loss of the year and remain the only team in the Canberra Raiders Cup without a win the 2024 season. 

Belconnen United face a tough test this week against the top of the table Rams away from home and for the Bulldogs they travel to Queanbeyan to face the Blues. 

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 32 defeat West Belconnen Warriors 18 

The Queanbeyan Kangaroos have continued their undefeated start to the season after defeating the West Belconnen Warriors at their home ground. 

The fourteen point win for the Kangaroos has seen the defending premiers cement themselves inside the top four.  

Brayden Draber was strong for Queanbeyan scoring three tries, while fullback Kaine Pagura also crossed for a four pointer. 

The Warriors succumbed to their first defeat of the season, however will be pleased with elements of the performance which saw them keep touch with the Kangaroos. 

Queanbeyan will face the Bulls next week at home, whilst for the Warriors they will meet a Yass Magpies side who are fresh off the bye at Raiders Belconnen. 

Woden Valley Rams 24 defeat Queanbeyan Blues 16 

The Woden Valley Rams emerge as likely premiership contenders after an eight point victory against the Blues in Queanbeyan on Saturday afternoon. 

A strong performance from Jesse Martin in the front row, supported by a clinical kicking game from halfback Brendan Jimenez ensured the Rams walked away with the two points. 

The Blues were gallant in defeat with a try in the final minutes providing flashbacks to the second half comeback in round two which secured a draw against the Kangaroos. 

The Rams will look to extend their undefeated start to the season at home next weekend against the Sharks, while the Blues look to bounce back at home against the Bulldogs.
