'Nana'
Grant came to Canberra from Balmain
in 1982 and holds the honour of being
the inaugural captain of the Canberra
Raiders. A fierce, hard runner of
the ball, Grant would often leave
opposition defence dazed on the turf.
Retired at the end of 1985 and Captain/Coached
Kyogle 1987-1989. His life was sadly
cut short by a heart attack in 1994
but 'Nana' will forever remain a Canberra

fierce competitor, 'Boxhead' was adored
by Raiders fans all over the world,
particularly in QLD where he represented
at Origin level so admirably. Had

Elias at club and state level. Steve
toured with the Kangaroos in 1994
after proving the difference in several
matches throughout the regular season.

Glen
Lazarus established himself as one
of the world's toughest players during
his time in Canberra. Mentally prepared
for any situation, Lazarus was a genuine
Grand Final lucky charm, winning 2
with the Raiders before moving to
Brisbane to take out 3 more premierships,
then finishing his career when he
led Melbourne to their stunning 1999
Grand Final win over the Dragons.
