Canberra Raiders skipper Alan Tongue has been cleared of a hand injury and will lead the Green machine from hooker in the Raiders opening NRL trial of the season against the Broncos at Ballymore Stadium on Saturday night.
Indigenous All-Star Travis Waddell is a late withdrawal from the Raiders line-up and will be rested, after he sustained a heavy concussion during the All-Stars match. Waddell’s absence sees Tongue start at hooker, while Raiders 2009 joint player of the year Josh Miller will start the game at lock.
Raiders new recruits Reece Robinson and Danny Galea will get there chance to impress after being named in the starting line-up at wing and second row respectively, with the former Bronco Robinson coming against his old club for the first time.
Raiders Coach David Furner has named a nine man bench for the opening trial with experienced props Troy Thompson and David Shillington among the reserves, while Toyota Cup stars Drury Low and Sam Mataora get their first taste of top line football.
