Michael Terwischa: Hey Papa, it was awesome to see you get picked for Queensland. What was that experience like and who were your friends in camp?
Josh: Thanks Michael. It was really nice to hear all the support from the Raiders fans about me getting selected, even from the ones that go for NSW. Just goes to show how supportive Raiders fans are about their players.
Playing for Queensland was awesome experience and one that I’ll never forget. Being around the likes of Greg Inglis and Cameron Smith was a massive boost for myself and has made me want to be a part of that set-up for years to come.
My best friend in the camp was probably Chris McQueen from the Rabbitohs. I hung around him a lot because we were the new ones in the team.
Jamie Hecht: You’re my favourite player in the NRL Josh. Who was your favourite player growing up?
Josh: Thanks Jamie. I would have to say that Ruben Wiki and Steve Matai were my favourite players growing up. They were players who would regularly put big hits on and they loved the contact the game which would inspire their teammates.
Trevor Grumley: Do you really hate Paul Gallen?
Josh: Haha no I don’t Paul Gallen at all. I have nothing against him. I heard that he’s a top bloke off the field and obviously one of the best in the NRL on it.
Brian Murphy: I love watching you play Josh especially when you pull off a big shot. Do you wish that the NRL brought the shoulder charge back? Because I certainly do!
Josh: Thanks Brian. To be honest I do wish the NRL brings back the shoulder charge. Like you, I’m a fan of the big hits and I think that if it is applied correctly the shoulder charge definitely has a place in the game.
Margaret Stott: My son wants to get as big and strong as you one day Josh. What’s your favourite meal to eat?
Josh: Oh Margaret I’m not sure if I’m the best person to ask for that… Whatever is in front of me is the best meal I guess. I love everything!
Justine Wentworth: Who is the best player that you’ve played against?
Josh: I would have to say Jonathan Thurston is the best player that I’ve played against. He is a very naturally talented player which makes him such a creative player but the main thing I think is his competitiveness. You can see how much he hates losing and he does everything he can to make sure that doesn’t happen.
We’re playing the Cowboys this weekend so I’ll be able to take him on. I’ve never beaten the Cowboys since I’ve been playing in the NRL so we’ll have to make sure that we mark up on him well.
Blake Forrester: Who is the funniest teammate at the Raiders and why?
Josh: Well Josh McCrone thinks that he’s funny but he’s more a pest. The funniest is definitely Shaun Berrigan.
He’s just a straight up character and just tells it how it is to someone no matter who it is. Tom Learoyd-Larhs is also really funny and does some great impressions.
