Lee, Wighton & Cornish named in Junior Kangaroos

Emerging Canberra Raiders stars Edrick Lee, Jack Wighton and Mitchell Cornish have capped off superb individual seasons with selections in the Junior Kangaroos squad for the upcoming test match against the Junior Kiwis at Dairy Farmers Stadium in Townsville on October 13.
All players were at some stage during the year a part of the club’s highly successful Toyota Cup side with Lee and Cornish featuring in the grand final last Sunday.
Wighton was unable to play in the decider due to playing in the NRL semi final the week prior. Wighton and Lee made their NRL debuts in 2012 with both young stars handling the transition capably and proving they have bright careers ahead of themselves in the top grade.
Similarly, Cornish enjoyed a stellar year as Captain of Canberra’s under 20s side and was recognised for his efforts by being named as the Toyota Cup Halfback of the Year.
After scoring six tries from seven appearances from the wing Lee will line up in the same position for the Junior Kangaroos.
Wighton will be given an opportunity to showcase his playmaking ability from five-eighth after playing on the wing and in the centres in his nine NRL games this year.
Cornish has been named 18th man after West Tigers halfback Jacob Miller’s brilliant game in the Toyota Cup grand final.
