The Canberra Raiders are pleased to announce Mick Crawley as their new assistant coach for two seasons commencing 2015.

Crawley is currently the Newcastle Knights NYC coach, steering the team to the top of the ladder this season. He is also one of the Knights current assistant NRL coaches working with Wayne Bennett at the Knights (2012-2014) and has worked with Neil Henry at the Cowboys (2009-2011) and the Raiders (2007-2008).

Raiders CEO Don Furner said the club was thrilled to have Crawley back at the club as an assistant to Ricky Stuart and said his experience and knowledge would be a valuable addition to the Raiders coaching staff.

“Mick is an experienced assistant coach who has been with the club in the past and we welcome his return to work alongside Ricky and Dean Pay,” Furner said. “Mick has worked in the NRL environment alongside some great coaches including Wayne Bennett and Neil Henry in the past and we look forward to his arrival for the start of the pre-season.”

Crawley said he was looking forward to returning to Canberra and the Raiders and working with Ricky Stuart and the playing group.

“Ricky’s a great coach and I’m excited about the future of the Raiders over the next few years,” Crawley said. “I’ve been involved with the club before as an assistant and I know the proud history they have and I believe there is a bright future with the talent in the squad and the fantastic setup and coaching staff they have in place.

“For the moment though I’m focussed on the Knights and finishing off the season on a high note.”
