Canberra Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart has issued a big challenge to his players ahead of the season, giving them the chance to try and get a win over their Coach before round one.

Stuart will take on each member of the NRL squad to try and sign up as many new members as possible before round one, with the player who signs up the most new members winning a fully catered open box at the Raiders first home game for the charity of their choice.

However, if Coach Stuart signs up the most new members before the season starts, than he will be able to use the box for the charity of his choice.

The Raiders are fast approaching 7000 members for the season and with this competition Stuart hopes to see this number climb even higher before the first home game against the Warriors on March 15.

Stuart said it’s a great way to invoke some club spirit amongst the playing group, get some healthy competition going and most importantly sign up more members to get behind the team for the season at GIO Stadium.

“I think this is a fantastic concept, it’s a good gesture and a bit of fun within the camp and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Stuart said. “Josh McCrone and Jarrod Croker are already well renowned in the group for signing up members, with both players already recruiting around 80 members between them. The challenge for these guys is to sign up members who are new to the club.”

The Competition begins from today and will run up until the Raiders first game of the season.
