It goes without saying, last weekend’s effort against the Tigers was one of the best wins in the club’s history.

With a howling win at our backs in the second half, I was never concerned about being 22-0 down.

And by never concerned, I mean I was horrified and certain the sky was in freefall.

Name a mistake and we made it in that first half.

Pushing passes, dropped balls, questionable communication.

We were guilty, guilty, guilty.

My lovely girlfriend told me to “relax, 22-0 is nothing, and we’ve hardly touched the ball yet.”

I told her I appreciated the sentiments but I’ve seen it all before.

At that stage I thought a loss under 50 points would be a blessing.

How wrong I was.

It all started with big Shannon Boyd. Just try and stop that man from close to the line.

Still, I thought it would be a good confidence booster for next week.

Then a brilliant Jarrod Croker take off a cross field kick and a try next to the posts.

22-12 at the break. I was starting to believe my better half was right.

After a pretty horrid first half, 10 points down at the break was a good result.

And from there on in it was all cheers and beers.

Nuuausala, Wighton, Rapana, I loved it all.  Never in doubt!

The comeback win says a lot about this side.

It shows there’s a belief amongst the boys that when on song, they can beat any side, anywhere.

They’ll need every bit of that confidence this weekend against an increasingly desperate South Sydney side.

Souths have lost two in a row and they’ll be keen to avoid a hat-trick of losses in the heat of Cairns on Sunday.

They’ll also be keen to show they can win without star halfback Adam Reynolds.

For our boys, it all comes down to two things.

Getting over the top of what is a very large and powerful forward pack and containing the unbelievable Greg Inglis.

I’m certain if we tick those two boxes, we win the game.

It’s something we can well and truly pull off and I can’t wait to see it unfold.

But on a side note, I’m looking forward to one very big clash. George Burgess vs Shannon Boyd.

Hold on to your hats as the clash of these two giants will surely to register some seismic activity!
