This Sunday at Seiffert Oval will see West Belconnen’s fairy-tale run cross paths with the might of the Queanbeyan Blues who will be aiming to secure back-to-back Grand Final appearances after taking out the title in 2014.

Situated at sixth position on the TTM Canberra Raiders Cup in Round 8 the Warriors then embarked on a seven match winning streak to now sit just one game away from the club’s first Grand Final appearance since 2009, where they went down to Goulburn 29-24.

The ultimate goal of course will be premiership honours which has not occurred since 2007 when West Belconnen defeated the Tuggeranong Bushrangers 24-10.

There’s been some conflicting results between the two sides this season, with both teams tasting victory over each other in the regular season and West Belconnen have the momentum of a seven game winning run behind them heading into this weekend.

Both Simon Woolford’s Blues and Justin Giteau’s Warriors have the benefit of fully fit squads to choose from on Sunday, with the Blues star studded backline to be led by Tom Ruediger who picked up the award for top try scorer for the competition at Monday night’s McIntyre Medal presentation.

Watch the video above to hear from leading point scorer for the season Craig Wilkinson (Blues) and West Belconnen’s ultra-consistent Tim Sloman.
