The Canberra Raiders will be having only one NRL trial match before the 2016 NRL season kicks off, against the Newcastle Knights in Orange on February 20. Tickets will be on sale this coming Friday, November 20 from HERE. 2016 Raiders members will have access to a discounted ticket price.

The NRL squad will take to Wade Park, Orange at 6.30pm on Saturday, February 20. It will be a full trial weekend with the Raiders NYC and NSW Cup Mounties also playing on Sunday, February 21. These matches will be against the Newcastle NYC and NSW Cup sides and will be held in Sydney.

Raiders Football Manager John Bonasera decided the one pre-season trial was the right option for 2016.

“The NRL squad has decided to go with the one trial this year. It’s a long season and with a reduced squad the focus will be getting one quality trial match in before the season commences. With Auckland Nines, All-Stars and some NSW Cup trials also scheduled in we’ll be able to get enough game time into the boys from one NRL trial.” Bonasera said.

“It’s a long season and our High Performance team have discussed our pre-season schedule at length with the Coaching staff to come up with the best option for us.”

The Raiders current NRL pre-season schedule is as follows:

·        Batemans Bay Camp, November 23-27

·        Auckland Nines Squad Announced, January 30

·        Auckland Nines, February 6-7

·        Indigenous All Stars v World All Stars, February 13 (Raiders representatives to be confirmed)

·        Newcastle Knights v Canberra Raiders, 6.30pm February 20, Wade Park, Orange
