The Canberra Raiders Harold Matthews (under 16’s) and SG Ball (under 18’s) teams will have their first trial matches this coming weekend in Goulburn. Following selection trials for the teams in mid-September both teams have been training extremely hard, including taking part in the Canberra Raiders inaugural Rookie Camp.
The trial matches will be played against Manly, Western Suburbs and South Western Academy. The Harold Matthews game will begin at 10am, followed by SG Ball at 1pm.
Both teams will also play trial games against Illawarra on December 12, before enjoying a break over Christmas. Two more trials games will be held in early January before final teams will be selected in mid-January.
Both teams currently have well over 30 players in each squad. This number will need to be reduced to 25 players per team before round one, which begins on the 13th of February.
