The stage is set for a massive Queanbeyan derby this weekend, with the Blues and Kangaroos both sitting on the top of the Austbrokers Canberra Raiders Cup ladder. Hear from Kangaroos coach Aaron Gorrell and Blues player Josh Baker in our preview of the Round 10 derby.

Gungahlin Bulls v Tuggeranong Bushrangers

After suffering narrow back to back losses, the Bulls will be desperate to return to winning ways against the Bushrangers. The two sides met in round 2 in which was a resounding 46-12 win for Gungahlin.

The Bushrangers currently sit in 6th place, only two places behind the Bulls, but they enter this match on the back of a 58-8 hiding from the second placed Kangaroos.

Belconnen United Sharks v Woden Valley Rams

The Rams travel to Belconnen as they aim to close the gap on the Bulls in their quest to partake in finals football. Currently in 5th place and only four points behind the Bulls, the Rams will need a win against a side they beat 42-18 earlier in the year.

The Sharks currently sit second-last on the ladder and are coming off a narrow 20-14 loss to Yass.  However the Sharks will take confidence from the Rams narrow 12-10 win against bottom placed Goulburn – a side the Sharks have already beaten this season.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos v Queanbeyan Blues

Although the season has only just passed the halfway mark, the winner of this derby could win the minor premiership. Both sides are locked on 16 points - having lost only one game each - with the Blues ahead on for and against.

The two sides played each other in round 2 in what was a resounding 56-0 Blues victory. However, the Kangaroos haven’t lost a game since that day and have shored up their defence. In their other seven matches, the Kangaroos have conceded miserly 15 points per game.

West Belconnen Warriors v Goulburn Workers Bulldogs

After a hard fought 28-26 win against the Bulls, West Belconnen will be aiming to take advantage of their opportunity to move into 2nd place on the ladder against the bottom placed Bulldogs. With both Queanbeyan sides playing each other on Saturday, the Warriors know that if they can beat the Bulldogs, they will at least move up into second.

Despite the Bulldogs languishing at the bottom of the ladder, the team gave a good account of themselves despite going down 12-10 to Woden. The Goulburn based side will need to play at a similar performance if they are to beat the high flying Warriors.
