The Austbrokers Canberra Raiders Cup will conclude this Sunday when the Queanbeyan Kangaroos play host to the West Belconnen Warriors at Seiffert Oval.

The Kangaroos have comprehensively dominated this year’s competition. Improving on their 3rd place regular season finish in 2015, the side ended up first this year, having not lost since their first game.

Conversely, the Warriors finished the season in third, but have looked impressive in recent weeks, grinding out tough finals wins against the Gungahlin Bulls and Queanbeyan Blues.

The sides faced off in rounds three and eight, with the Kangaroos pulling off close wins both times in what were otherwise high-scoring affairs.

Another strong defensive effort by the Warriors might be enough for them to win their first premiership since 2007. Their inclination to post big large scores will be hampered however with the likely ruling out of halfback Cody Wynnik due to concussion.

Although they haven’t made the final in three years, the Kangaroos have been a force within the league, having won three premierships since 2010. The side will be banking on their near-perfect season record to get them over the line, backed up by their ability to score tries, whilst simultaneously keeping them out.
