The Canberra Raiders can confirm that former Queensland Origin player David Taylor has been offered a short term agreement with the Raiders.

The agreement will run from the beginning of the Raiders pre-season and will be reviewed at the end of December.  If the club is satisfied with his progress he will be given the opportunity to continue his next short-term goal of continuing pre-season training and the opportunity to play two trial games.

Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart said Taylor would have to achieve these short term goals to be considered for a deal in 2017.

“If David achieves his goals and is then offered a small playing fee for 2017 he has made better choices for himself, his family and his football,” Stuart said. “It has shown he has bought in and committed to turning himself around.

“The Raiders have the resources in turning David into a regular NRL player, but it’s up to David to show if he wants it bad enough.”
