The Canberra Raiders NYC side has been thumped by the Cronulla Sharks 74-12 at GIO stadium.

The Raiders started the match well, taking a 2 point lead after just 10 minutes of play thanks to William Samuel, who barged his way over the white line on the back of a great dummy half run from Raiders rake Jarred Tuite.

However, the Raiders spent most of the match behind the try line from here, letting in 64 unanswered points.

The Raiders scored a late try with 8 minutes left on the clock, but the game was well and truly wrapped up, as the Sharks were just too strong for the Raiders.

Poor disciple and defence played a large part in the loss, kicking the ball dead twice off kick-off and missing a multitude of tackles.

To add to the Raiders woes, they lost Captain Kalani Going and forward Zac Masters early in the game due to injuries and played the back end of the match a man down after a send-off.

The Raiders will be looking to bounce back when they take on the Tigers next Sunday at GIO Stadium.
