Queanbeyan Blues 34 (Tries: D Beath, M Cullen, M Day, B Spears, T Stevens, B Taueki; Goals: T Campese 5) defeated Woden Valley Rams 16 (Tries: M Gilmore, I Cotric, S Henderson; Goals: C Johnson 2)

The Blues have recorded their 6th win of the season and reaffirm their place atop of the Canberra Cup ladder after they cruised past a tough Woden Valley Rams outfit.

The Rams were more than competitive against the Blues crossing over the try line for three tries with Carl Johnson able to convert two of them. But the Terry Campese lead Blues were once again too clinical, outscoring the Rams and sealing another victory.

The Blues come up against the West Belconnen Warriors next week while the Rams have another hard match against the Queanbeyan Roos.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 37 (Tries: B Crisp 2, B Cronan, S Dunn, J Dent, G Afemui, D Reid; Goals: B Crisp 3, J Essex; Field Goal: J Essex) defeated Yass Magpies 12 (Tries: S Davis, W Peace; Goals: S Davis 2)

The Queanbeyan Roos have put together a complete performance to beat the Yass Magpies in a match with nine tries and even a field goal.

The Roos were too good for the Magpies who struggled to stop the rampaging Queanbeyan team from finding points. The Roos ran in seven tries against the Magpies who struggled to contain their big men. A double from Brent Crisp helped the Roos confidence but a field goal from Joshua Essex would be the cherry on the top for the Roos as they look ahead to next week’s game against the Woden Valley Rams.

As for the Magpies, they come up against an evenly matched Gungahlin Bulls squad next week and will be looking to move further up the table.

West Belconnen Warriors 36 (Tries: S Finnegan 2, L Ashlin, C Brebner, T Sloman, C Thorley; Goals Joshua Essex 6) defeated Tuggeranong Bushrangers 26 (Tries: B Donovan 2, W Tauti, J Mitchell, L Oakley; Goals: J Mitchell 2, Q Cannan)

The West Belconnen Warriors have secured an important win after they held out the Tuggeranong Bushrangers in a tight contest.

Both teams were strong in attack with the Warriors crossed for six tries while the Bushrangers recorded five.

But it was goal kicking which proved to be a big part of the match with Wests Belconnen’s Joshua Essex converting all six of his teams tries while Tuggeranong were only able to kick three goals.

The Warriors will come up against the top of the table Queanbeyan Blues next week while the Bushrangers face a much improved Belconnen United Sharks.

Goulburn Workers Bulldogs 28 (Tries: M Picker 2, M White, D Stephens, Z Hart; Goals: B Hewitt 2, C Hart 2) defeated Belconnen United Sharks 14 (Tries: V Kitione, M Butz, A Pelasio; Goals: D Eason)

The Goulburn Workers Bulldogs have run home winners thanks to a double from captain coach Michael Picker, to record their third win of the season.

The Bulldogs ran in four tries in the first half to go into the sheds with a 22-4 advantage. The Sharks scored first points in the second half as a comeback slowly began to cultivate.

But it was the former Raider Michael Picker who led his team to victory, crossing for his second try late in the half to put the result beyond doubt.

The Bulldogs are now just one win outside of the top four but will get to enjoy a well-earned rest this week as they have the bye.

The Sharks will come up against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers this weekend and will be looking to make full use of their home ground advantage.
