Canberra Raiders Major Sponsor Huawei have donated over $40,000 to the Ricky Stuart Foundation, following the fundraising initiatives from the round 12 match against the Roosters at GIO Stadium.

Over $37,000 of the donation was a direct result from auctioning off the game worn jerseys post-match, which is a fundraising record for the club for this type of activity, with the remaining amount donated through game day donations at the Raiders v Roosters match.

Huawei gave up their place on the front of the Raiders jersey for the match, with the wonderful gesture allowing the Raiders to play their round 12 match against the Roosters at GIO Stadium with the #AutismWellbeing message on the front of the jersey. The money for the Ricky Stuart Foundation was then raised through an online auction of the game worn jerseys through www.allbids.com.au

Huawei Manager Corporate Relations and Programs, Lisa Connors, said Huawei was proud to have been able to assist in reaching a new club record for this type of auction and said they would continue the initiative into next season.

“As a new fundraising record for the Canberra Raiders we are overwhelmed by the generosity shown by Canberra community.  Huawei is delighted to have facilitated this for the Ricky Stuart foundation for the past two seasons and are excited to announce we will continue to support the Ricky Stuart Foundation in this fashion in 2018.”

Canberra Raiders Coach and Director of the Ricky Stuart Foundation, Ricky Stuart, said the gesture by Huawei would assist in the development of the organisations second respite home Emma Ruby House, which is set to commence construction in the coming months.

“Without the generosity of organisations like Huawei who gave us the opportunity to promote the foundation and the Autism Wellbeing message on the front of the Raiders jersey we wouldn’t be able to continue the work we do in providing respite care for families in the region affected by Autism.

“It’s with immense pride that I can also confirm that we are about to commence the construction of a second respite home in Cook in the ACT, which will provide respite care for families with teenage children with Autism.

The Raiders and Ricky Stuart Foundation would like to take the opportunity to thank www.allbids.com.au who helped facilitate the online auction of the jerseys on behalf of Huawei.
