10. Canberra Raiders 30 def. New Zealand Warriors 6 – Canberra Stadium (August 23rd, 1996)
It was the first time the Warriors had ever played at Canberra Stadium and it’s a time they would rather forget. The Raiders ran six tries past the newly formed New Zealand side including a hat-trick from Raiders flyer Ken Nagas, to subject the Warriors to their 10th loss of the season. Led by Captain Laurie Daley the Raiders went on to qualify for the finals before falling out in week one.
9. Canberra Raiders 26 def. New Zealand Warriors 24 – Canberra Stadium (August 18th, 2007)
In round 23 2007, the Raiders upset the Warriors to lay claim to a slim two point victory which threatened to knock the Warriors out of the top eight. With the Raiders season all but over sitting in 14th position, a hat-trick to Brett Kelly helped the Raiders to overthrow the 5th placed Warriors in front of an ecstatic home crowd.
8. Canberra Raiders 46 def. New Zealand Warriors 22 – Canberra Stadium (July 4th, 1999)
In front of a 10,000 strong home crowd the Raiders ran in eight tries to put the Warriors to the sword in this 12 try thriller. Sitting one spot outside the top eight the Raiders needed a win to keep their finals hopes alive. But after doubles to Andrew Mcfadden, Mark Mclinden and Lesley Vainikolo the Raiders had the game wrapped up in a bow and sent the Warriors home with their tail between their legs.
7. New Zealand Warriors 29 def. Canberra Raiders 10 – Mt Smart Stadium (July 31st, 2011)
In a game decided in the second half, the Raiders failed to hold on to a two point lead after halftime letting in four quick tries. After going into the sheds leading 10-8 and looking the better side for most of the half, the Raiders failed to stop a fast finishing Warrior’s outfit who ran in four ties in the second half and slotted a field goal late in the match, to put to bed any chance of a Raiders comeback.
6. Canberra Raiders 15 def. New Zealand Warriors 8 - Mt Smart Stadium (August 18th, 1995)
In the first game ever had between these two clubs, the Raiders got first bragging rights thanks to a double from Raider legend Laurie Daley. In a match seen by 29,500 people, the Warriors held their own against a Raiders side which was far better on paper. A try to Warrior winger Sean Hoppe put the Warriors in the match but the combination of Ricky Stuart and Lurie Daley was too good as the pair combined for nine of the Raiders points including a field goal to get the Raiders over the line.
5. New Zealand Warriors 36 def. Canberra Raiders 20 – Mt Smart Stadium (September 15th, 2002)
In the Qualifying final of the 2002 finals series, the Warriors eliminated the Raiders from the competition before going on to play in the Grand Final. After regular season, the Raiders came up against a Warriors outfit which they were able to beat just 6 weeks before. But a try scoring spree which saw 10 tries throughout the match fell in the Warriors favour as they progressed through only to fall short in the Grand Final.
4. Canberra Raiders 38 def. New Zealand Warriors 12 – New Plymouth (May 21st, 2016)
Ending a two game losing streak, the Raiders showed they can travel across the ditch and put on a big performance after this clinical performance in 2016. In the first NRL game held at New Plymouth the Raiders ran in six tries including a 22 point romp in the first half effectively putting the game to bed. Despite their attack it was the Raiders defence which drew headlines, defending multiple sets on their own line and starting a winning run which would place them in the 2016 NRL finals.
3. Canberra Raiders 56 def. New Zealand Warriors 12 – Canberra Stadium (March 6th, 2000)
In this 11 try demolition job the Raiders recorded their best ever win over the Warriors cruising to a 44-point victory. The Raiders found it easy to get past the Warriors defensive line with Laurie Daley causing havoc scoring a double and playing a hand in many of the Raiders tries. Brett Mullins and Lesley Vainikolo also secured doubles while David Furner converted five to add to the Raiders already impressive score.
2. Canberra Raiders 16 def by. New Zealand Warriors 17 – Sydney Football Stadium (September 20th, 2003)
After finishing fourth and loosing week one of the finals, the Raiders got a second chance at the finals against the Warriors in Sydney. With neither team having the home ground advantage and 32,000 people turning up to watch, the game which followed didn’t disappoint. The Raiders got off to the perfect scoring first points after fullback Clinton Schifcofske kicked over a penalty goal early in the half. The Raiders then hit back quickly after dummy half Simon Woolford burrowed over from dummy half for the first try of the game. But a strong second half got the Warriors back into the game before a 78th minute field goal from star Warriors half-back Stacy Jones silenced the Raiders and sent them packing.
1. Canberra Raiders 30 def. New Zealand Warriors 29 – Canberra Stadium (July 25th, 2004)
Round 20 2004, one of the most exciting battles between the Raiders and the Warriors took place. A hat-trick to Raiders five-eighth Matt Gafa, followed by a double from Nathan Smith, put the Raiders in a strong position to win their fourth game in five matches. But the Warriors were just as good matching the Raiders and running in five tries to tie the match. A field goal from Stacy Jones gave the Warriors the lead before Terry Campese quickly evened it back up with another field goal. But a second field goal from Campese proved to be the difference and gave the Raiders a tight one point victory.
