Here is the Round 24 edition of by the numbers as the Raiders suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Penrith Panthers at GIO Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The green machine had it over the visitors in the possession stakes with 53% compared to Penrith’s 47%.

The Raiders have been very solid in their completion rate recently but unfortunately Sunday just wasn’t their day as they could only manage 68% as opposed to the Panthers 88%.

The green machine and the mountain men were hard to separate over offloads and line breaks, Canberra managed five line breaks and nine offloads whilst Penrith just scraped ahead with six line breaks and 10 offloads.

Both teams had a day to forget in the missed tackles count. Canberra conjured up 40 whilst the Panthers made a whopping 50.

One stat that Ricky Stuart’s men won’t be too pleased about is the amount of errors during the contest. The Raiders had a total of 15 compared to the Panther’s five.

Jack Wighton was in sensational form for the home side as he made a total of 169 running metres with two line breaks, a try and an assist to cap off a great individual performance.

Joey Leilua was also strong with the ball in hand as he made 157 running metres. Josh Papalii was next best for the Raiders with 124.

The Raiders two English internationals showed once again how much work they put on the training field with their tackle count. Whitehead made 48 whilst Hodgson made 43 tackles for the match.

The Raiders are back at home for the final game of the season on Friday night when they host the Newcastle Knights. Kick off is at 6pm.
