Last Thursday Canberra Raiders winger Nick Cotric came to watch local junior rugby league players enjoy the final session of the M8’s competition for 2017.

Spanning over five weeks, 90 kids from the Canberra region competed each Thursday in the eight-a-side competition.

“It was fantastic to see so many kids out having fun as they played footy with their mates,” Cotric said. “I certainly enjoyed doing the same thing with my mates down in Tuggeranong when I was younger.”

Having overseen the competition over the last five weeks, NRL Development Officer Adam Kyle was pleased to see so many kids playing the game.

“It was great to see plenty of familiar and new faces come each week and play,” Kyle said. “The whole reason this competition came about was because we wanted to see people learn the game in a fast paced and hassle free environment.

“It was awesome that so many kids brought their mates to come along and try rugby league and I certainly hope that they’ll come along again when we start our next M8’s competition in the new year.”
