At just 22 years of age, Boyd is already a man mountain weighing in at 122kg and standing at 194cm. With talent to match, Boyd is viewed by many as one of the finest up and coming front rowers in the game.
After rising through the Raiders grades after moving down from Cowra, Boyd started in the front row for NSW in the inaugural Under 20s State of Origin fixture in 2012 and played his first season of senior rugby league with Mounties in the NSW Cup in 2013.
Boyd put the experience to good use and debuted in the opening round of the 2014 season after a tremendous pre-season effort.
The Cowra Magpies junior’s blockbusting performances in his next 20 matches resulted in him being crowned as the Raiders 2014 Rookie of the Year as well as establishing himself as one of the most exciting front row prospects in the game.
Due to his monstrous frame and fearsome charges into the teeth of the defensive line, Boyd strikes genuine intimidation into the hearts of the opposition.
With Boyd’s mentor Brett White now retired, there is an opportunity for him to help fill the void left by the former international bookend in 2015 and in turn take his game to another level.
If Boyd continues with the same exemplary attitude that he exuded last season, the sky is the limit for the likeable front-rower.
Away from rugby league, Boyd enjoys the country lifestyle and rates pig hunting with his friends back on his family’s farm in Cowra as one of his great past times.
