Every point the Raiders score in home matches at GIO Stadium in 2016 will count for more than just what’s displayed on the scoreboard. The Raiders will be supporting the ‘Homes for Homes’ fundraising initiative in 2016, with $400 from every try and $200 from every goal scored by the Raiders going directly to Home for Homes.

The Raiders commitment to Homes to Homes is via a partnership with new sponsor Denman Prospect, who are currently building a new suburb in the Molonglo Valley district of Canberra.

Currently, there is a critical shortage of affordable homes and thousands of Australians are homeless each night. With the Homes for Homes initiative, 0.1% of the sale proceeds of all land sold in Denman Prospect will go to towards more affordable housing.

In addition there will be a permissive (voluntary) caveat on the title of all future sales, meaning homeowners can choose to donate a tax deductible 0.1% of their property price to Homes for Homes at the time they sell. For example, a $500,000 property transaction would mean a $500 contribution. This fantastic scheme means that Denman Prospect and its community will forever be part of the solution to reduce homelessness.

Capital Estate Developments Managing Director Stephen Byron has applauded the Raiders Points for Cash – Homes for Homes Charity Promotion.

“Our development, Denman Prospect, will be the first entire suburb in Australia to commit to the Homes for Homes initiative. The new social housing project is focused on reducing homelessness in the ACT,” Mr Byron said.

“We are pleased the Canberra Raiders will also be joining us to give back to the community by contributing $400 for every try and $200 for every goal in the Homes for Homes Charity Promotion. So may we score many tries and goals this season!”

Canberra Raiders CEO Don Furner echoed Mr Byron’s words and thanked Denman Prospect for allowing the club to help contribute to the Homes for Homes campaign.

“It’s always exciting when the Raiders score at GIO Stadium, but thanks to Denman Prospect it becomes even more exciting this year as every point gives us the chance to support a wonderful cause in Homes for Homes,” Mr Furner said. “We thank Denman Prospect and hopefully the campaign can drive the team towards more tries this season.”
