Shannon Boyd is determined to put in a strong showing for the Raiders this weekend as they look to close out the 2017 season with a win over the premiership favourites.

"All the boys are a bit down about not making the finals, it's something that you play for all year so it's disappointing that we can't make it," Boyd said.

"If we can finish on a high against Melbourne it will be a good way to go out. They are a class above everyone else at the moment, they are playing really good footy and they are the team to beat so we will have a good look at ourselves after the game this weekend for where we stand at the start of next season."

Boyd has also welcomed back the inclusion of Sia Soliola as the Raiders fan favourite returns from his suspension for the last game of the season.

"Sia is a big player for us, he's a leader at the club and shows the boys around. He will be massive for us against Melbourne and he will be ready to rip in."
