Austbrokers Canberra Raiders Cup Round 10 Wrap

Four points separate first and sixth after an exciting weekend in the Austbrokers Canberra Raiders Cup.

Woden Valleys Rams 20 (Tries: S Maloney, J Taws, C McGhie, J Morgan; Goals: R Leapai 2) d Tuggeranong Bushrangers 18 (Tries: N Smith, L Tuicakau, J Mitchell; Goals: J Mitchell 3)

A Jesse Taws try right on fulltime saw the Woden Valley Rams seal a comeback and upset the top of the table Tuggeranong Bushrangers.

The Bushrangers started the brighter of the two sides as Nathan Smith opened the scoring after latching on to a Josh Mitchell grubber before Tuicakau doubled the score.

However, Cleve McGhie put Woden on the board with a powerful run before halftime.

Jeff Morgan ensured the Rams started the second half in fine fashion with a bulldozing 50 meter run before Sean Maloney gave Woden the lead.

Tuggeranong poked their noses back in front when Mitchell scored from dummy half but Jesse Taws late try courtesy of a Jeff Morgan kick gave the Rams the win.

Goulburn Workers Bulldogs 20 (Tries: Z Hart, T Greenwood, J Fattore; Goals: C Hart 4) d Belconnen United Sharks 12 (Tries: C McAskill, S Tupuola; Goals: A McDonald 2)

The Goulburn Workers Bulldogs claimed their first win since Round 2 with an eight point win over the Belconnen United Sharks.

The Bulldogs started in blistering fashion as Josh Fattore opened the scoring in the first minute of the match before Zach Hart stepped his way through the line to double the scoring.

Belconnen captain Channon McAskill crashed over the line to narrow the margin as the two sides continued to fight hard.

Goulburn started the second half brightly when Nick Cornish put Tyson Greenwood over the line but Belconnen refused to back down as Sonny Tupuola barged over the try line.

A late penalty which was successfully kicked by Chris Hart gave the Bulldogs some breathing space with an eight point lead and that's how the scores ended.

Yass Magpies 14 (Tries: W Peace, J Smith; Goals: S Davis 3) d Queanbeyan Blues 10 (Tries: Z Patch, T Stevens; Goals: J Baker)

Fifth placed Yass drew level on points with the two Queanbeyan sides after a hard fought win at Walker Park.

In a low scoring first half, the Yass Magpies scored out wide via Willie Peace in the 35th minute. Two Shaun Davis penalties ensured that the Magpies carried an 8-0 lead at halftime.

Zac Patch narrowed the margin to two points with a try from dummy half but Jai Smith scored in the corner to extend Yass' lead.

The Blues kept fighting and we were rewarded with a Tyler Stevens try after a Terry Campese kick was gathered on the wing before being passed back infield to the centre.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 42 (Tries: B Cronan 3, J Kiely, N Ngere, F Tonga, R Tuckwell; Goals: B Crisp 7) d Gungahlin Bulls 6 (Tries: R Cronin; Goals: J Fa'Amoe Ioane)

The Kangaroos maintained their impressive recent form as they comfortably defeated the Gungahlin Bulls.

It didn't take long for the Queanbeyan side to open the scoring as they scored in both corners of the ground thanks to Fonua Tonga and Ryan Tuckwell.

The Kangaroos continued to pile on the points as Bryan Cronan scored his first for the afternoon while Jake Kiely and Nukurua Ngere also put their name on the scoresheet.

Ryan Cronin nabbed a try back for the Bulls but the Kangaroos entered the halftime break boasting a 30-6 lead.

The Kangaroos were restricted to two tries in the second half which were both scored by Cronan as he secured his hattrick.
