John Bateman Shortlisted for Man of Steel

New Canberra Raiders recruit John Bateman has been shortlisted for the 2018 Steve Prescott Man of Steel Award.

Bateman, who will link up with Raiders ahead of the 2019 NRL season, is one of three players named for the award alongside Ben Barba and James Roby.

The award is presented to the individual deemed by his peers to have the biggest impact in the Super League this season.

Bateman, who currently plies his trade for the Wigan Warriors, has scored four tries this season while playing in the second row.

Equally capable of playing the centers, Bateman is likely to link up with the England national team ahead of their test match against France and three match series against New Zealand.

The Steve Prescott Man of Steel Winner will be announced on Monday October 8.
