Bushrangers edge Bulldogs

The Tuggeranong Bushrangers remain the only side in the Blumers Lawyers Canberra Raiders Cup with a 100 per cent winning record after they defeated the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs 24-18 at Greenway.

The Tuggeranong Bushrangers took the lead in the third minute as Josh Mitchell scored his first try of season as he crashed over under the posts.

From then on, the rest of the half was a grind as both sides made errors and struggled to pile on the pressure.

However, the evergreen Michael Dodson was put through a gap as he strolled over the line with three minutes left in the half as Goulburn took a 6-4 halftime lead.

The Bushrangers started the second half in the manner they started the first when Wes Alexander broke through the line before putting in a kick for his centre Ngarima Low. However Josh Mitchell missed his second straightforward conversion.

Alexander then scored a try of his own as the playmaker scored his first ever first grade try for the Bushrangers.

Izzy Tittor scored a double for Goulburn as he brought the Bulldogs back into the match in his first grade debut.

However, Tuggeranong lifted once again as Jarrad Kennedy crossed over the line to make in three tries in three matches for the former Canberra Raider.

Captain Josh Mitchell once again caught the Goulburn defence off guard as he crashed over near the posts to give his side a six point lead.
