The Gungahlin Bulls first grade side had an outstanding 2020 season, reaching the grand final for the first time since 2008.
The Bulls had a slow start to the competition, losing their first three games before going on the win the next five matches to book their spot in the grand final.
Gungahlin’s attack was slick and dangerous, notching up over 30 points in each of their wins.
The halves combination of Tre Holten-Williams and Connor Williams stood out throughout the competition, while their forward pack laid a solid platform.
The Bulls had a number of players make their debut for the first grade side this year: Blake Morschel, Mathew Hately, Dominico Costanzo, Riley Flannery, Earldric Pehara, Ropeti Mauava, Jarrod Hitchins, Connor Williams, Jackson Owen, Jesse Thompson, Ryan Longhurst and Wayne Sloane.
Season Highlight
The Bulls pulled off a big upset in round six, handing the Raiders Under 20’s their only loss of the season with a 34-18 win.
Gungahlin led 16-12 at halftime before running in three second half tries to claim victory.
Bulls winger Todd Sherd picked up a double, with Rourke O’Sullivan, Connor Williams and Jackson Owen also scoring four-pointers.
Gungahlin five-eighth Tre Holten-Williams was named man of the match for his performance in the game.
CRRL Cup Reserve Grade

It was a tough season for the Gungahlin Bulls reserve grade side in 2020.
While the Bulls were competitive throughout the competition, they struggled to match it with the other teams.
They recorded just one win, defeating the Queanbeyan Blues 18-10 in their season-opener.
Earldric Pehara was the top try-scorer for the team, scoring three tries.
Cody Smith was the highest ranked Bulls player on the CRRL Cup Reserve Grade Best and Fairest 2020 award leaderboard.
Season Highlight
Their first round win over the Queanbeyan Blues.
The Bulls recorded an 18-10 victory to start their season off on a high.
Earldric Pehara, Ambrose Ewing-House and Cody Smith all scored tries in the win, with Smith successfully converting all three tries.
Unfortunately it would be Gungahlin’s only win of the season.
CRRL Cup Ladies League Tag

The Gungahlin Bulls were the benchmark of the competition all season, reaching the grand final and falling just short of a maiden premiership.
Gungahlin lost only one game during the regular season, going down 14-10 to eventual premiers the Blues in round seven.
The Bulls excellent season was built off their defence, leaking just 32 points all season. They kept teams to zero four times throughout the competition.
The side’s attack was dangerous as well, scoring 276 points over eight games. The Blues (premiers) scored 168 points across the same number of games.
Caitlin Turnbull finished equal first in the CRRL Cup Ladies League Tag 2020 Best and Fairest leaderboard, with teammate Madeleine Orr claiming third place.
Season Highlight
Their 68-0 win over the UC Stars in round six, the biggest win of the season.
It was also Gungahlin’s fifth win on the trot.
The Bulls ran in 13 tries during the game, with Natalee Daylight scoring a hat-trick and Abbie Bailey, Jessica Crowe and Teagan Pateman all scoring doubles.
Daylight picked up 24 points in the clash.
