After Raiders Tag gala days were cancelled due to bad weather, NRL Canberra conducted in-school gala days with registered primary schools.

Giralang Primary School had two teams in the year 3/4 division, with approximately 25 participants.

PE coordinator Laura Funnell helped facilitate the day, with participants taking part in a skill session prior to playing a series of League Tag games.

After the session, the school was impressed with the values shared by both the Canberra Raiders and Giralang PS. Shane Read, NRL Canberra Game Development Officer, was asked to present the Sportsperson of the Year award to Nabeel Bukari. Nabeel is a Year 6 student who was also voted school captain for 2021 at the same presentation.

Giralang PS has already booked in for INSPIRE presentations and the Raiders Community Blitz in 2021, with interest from years 3-6 in participating in all NSWRL and Canberra Raiders events and gala days for 2021.

Ms Funnell has expressed the school is motivated by the values and discipline shown by the Raiders players and staff.
