From 1 February 2021, changes to the Working with Vulnerable People Act will come into effect.

The changes will better protect vulnerable people in our community and will align with the NDIS worker screening.

The most significant change is that the length of registration period will move from three years to five years.

In addition, disqualifying offences will apply to all existing registrations and new applications. There are two classes of disqualifying offences, Class A and Class B. Those that have committed a disqualifying offence may have their registration cancelled or restricted. A list of disqualifying offences can be found here.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, renewal arrangements have also changed. If your registration expired on or after 16 March 2020, your registration was automatically extended. This extension will last until the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency has formally ended.
