Junior Reps Round Three Wrap

It was a tough weekend for the Canberra Raiders junior reps teams, with all three grades suffering losses.

Tarsha Gale Cup

The Raiders Tarsha Gale Cup side went down to the Indigenous Academy Roosters 32-6 at Raiders Belconnen on Saturday.

The Roosters scored three unanswered tries in the first half, going into half-time with a 14-0 lead.

The Raiders hit back right after the break, with halfback Makayla Morris scoring a four-pointer. Morris converted her try to close the gap to 14-6.

But from there it was all the Indigenous Academy Roosters, with the visiting side running in three more tries.

Harold Matthews Cup

The Raiders Harold Matthews Cup side narrowly lost to the Panthers 22-18 at Raiders Belconnen on Saturday.

The Raiders were first on the scoreboard, with centre Siamani Leuluai scoring and Samuel Gash converting to give the side a 6-0 lead after 16 minutes of play.

Leuluai got his second try of the day just two minutes later, with Gash again converting to extend the lead to 12-0.

The Panthers hit back with two quick tries of their own to level the scores at 12-12 at half-time.

The momentum stayed with Penrith after the break, with the visiting side scoring two more tries to jump ahead 22-12.

The Raiders bounced back with a try to winger Gash, who also converted to close the gap to just four points.

But it wasn't enough as the Panthers held on for the win.

SG Ball Cup

The Raiders SG Ball Cup side suffered their second loss of the season against the Panthers, 44-18.

The Panthers flew out of the blocks, running in six first half tries to lead 34-0.

The Raiders were first to score in the second half with Jett Liu picking up a try. Corey Lewis added the two points to make it 34-6.

Penrith hit back with a try, before Raiders lock Mitchell Prest scored a four-pointer. Lewis converted again to bring the score to 38-12.

The Panthers extended their lead to 44-12 after another try and conversion.

Taulauniuotagaloa Mariota scored just before full-time for the home side, with Lewis converting to make the final score 44-18.
