Junior Reps Round Nine Preview

The Canberra Raiders’ junior representative teams will travel to Sydney this weekend to take on the Eels in the final round of competitions.

All three games will be played at New Era Stadium in Cabramatta on Saturday with the Tarsha Gale Cup getting things underway at 11am.

The Raiders’ Tarsha Gale Cup side will play their final game of the season after missing out on a finals spot, with the Steelers sitting in sixth place and three points clear of them.

But the Raiders will be full of confidence to finish the season off on a high after defeating the Bears 20-12 last weekend.

It will be a tough matchup for Canberra against the second placed Parramatta side who are currently on a five-game winning streak.

The Raiders’ Harold Matthews Cup game will follow their match, kicking off at 12.30pm.

Both teams enter this game with the same record this season of four wins and two losses. They both secured a spot in the finals with round eight victories, with the Raiders demolishing the Bears 50-10 and the Eels beating the Steelers 34-18.

This finals berth for Canberra's Harold Matts team is worth celebrating even more considering they finished last on the ladder in 2021.

The final game at New Era Stadium on Saturday afternoon sees the Raiders SG Ball team play their last game of the 2022 season at 2pm.

The Raiders didn’t quite get the result they were looking for to keep their finals dreams alive, narrowly going down to the Bears 18-16 last round.

After a disjointed season due to cancelled games, the SG Ball side will be keen to put this season behind them with a win over the Eels, who sits one point ahead of them on the ladder.
