Katrina Fanning Shield 2022: Round Three Preview

The Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield continues this weekend with its own instalment of ‘Magic Round,’ as eight teams will feature across four blockbuster games at Raiders Belconnen on Saturday.

UC Stars vs Queanbeyan Blues, Raiders Belconnen, 10:30am Saturday 14th May

The UC Stars will host the Blues to kick off magic round at their home ground, with both teams sitting in the top four after the first two rounds.

The Stars were dominant at home last weekend, recording a 30-6 win over the Raiders led by their forward pack which looked unstoppable.

Meanwhile, the Blues are one of three teams who are still undefeated after the first two rounds, with big wins over the Worhawks and South Coast United.

The Blues have not conceded a single point all season, but after the Stars’ performance last week this could be their chance to make a statement to the rest of the competition.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers vs Harden Worhawks, Raiders Belconnen, 12pm Saturday 14th May.

The Bushrangers will take on the Worhawks with both teams looking to score their first win of the season.

It hasn't been a great start for the Bushrangers who currently sit 0-2 with big losses to the Rams and Magpies.

The Worhawks have also had a poor start to the season, currently sitting in last position without scoring a try in the opening two games.

While we’re still in the early stages of the competition, both teams still have plenty to play for as a victory here could put the winner into the top five.

South Coast United vs Woden Valley Rams, Raiders Belconnen, 1:30pm Saturday 14th May

South Coast United will host the undefeated Rams in a game that could go down to the wire.

South Coast United currently sit 1-1 to start their season after going down 28-0 to the Blues last Saturday, after a horror start which put the game away early.

Meanwhile, the Rams are 2-0 to start the season which included a huge 46-0 win over the Worhawks in round two. The Rams were quick out of the blocks, going up 16-0 after the first 10 minutes and went into halftime with a 32-0 lead.

South Coast United will have to start much quicker against one of the premier teams in the competition, who proved last week that they can score points early and quickly.

Goulburn City Bulldogs vs Boomanulla Raiders, 3pm, Saturday 14th May

Magic Round finishes with the Bulldogs taking on the Raiders, with both teams looking for their first win of the season.

The Bulldogs opened their 2022 campaign in round one with a narrow 30-18 loss to the Magpies. After last week's bye, the Bulldogs will be eager to get this match underway and score their first win after their successful 2021 campaign.

Meanwhile, the Raiders will also be keen to secure their first win after last week's disappointing loss to the Stars and beginning the season with a bye.

The Raiders will be hoping to make a statement with a win over last year's joint minor premiers, in what should be a great match between two teams desperate for their first win.
