NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg Round 14 Preview

The Canberra Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg sides will host the Penrith Panthers at Raiders Belconnen in round 14 of their respective competitions.

Both games will be played this Saturday at Raiders Belconnen, with gates opening at 1pm. Entry is $5 per head, with kids under 4 free.

The Raiders NSW Cup side will be looking for back to back wins when they face the top of the table Panthers at Raiders Belconnen, with kick-off at 3pm.

The Raiders will be coming into this match with a lot of confidence after picking up a 30-22 win over the Jets last Sunday at GIO Stadium.

Brad Schneider was great in his NSW Cup debut last week, kicking three conversions and leading the team to its sixth win of the season.

Albert Hopoate will start in the centres, replacing Semi Valemei who has been named on the extended bench for the NRL side. Trey Mooney also returns to the side after his NRL debut with Peter Hola moving to the bench.

The NSW Cup side have been in terrific form and have won three of their last four games, finding themselves seventh on the ladder at the halfway point of the season.

Meanwhile, the Panthers currently sit first on the ladder but went down 22-26 to the Dragons last weekend at home.

These two sides met earlier this season and it was Panthers who picked up a 44-12 win in Penrith.

Both sides will have plenty to play for as we enter the State of Origin period where securing two points on the ladder is crucial.

The Raiders Jersey Flegg side will kick off the day at Raiders Belconnen with their game against the Panthers starting at 1:20pm.

The Raiders Flegg side currently find themselves in eighth position on the ladder and will be hoping to avoid their third loss in a row.

There are no changes to last week's side, with Sione Vuki and Thomas Casey named in the halves.

The Panthers currently sit fifth on the ladder and will be wanting to avoid a fourth straight loss.

The Raiders played the Panthers in round seven last year and unfortunately suffered a disappointing loss.
