Two heavyweights will do battle when the Cootamundra Bullettes host the Binalong Brahmans in their Round Six Blumers Lawyers George Tooke Shield league tag match at Les Boyd Oval on Saturday.

Two of the best-attacking teams meet in a match promising fireworks and plenty of tries, and it could very well come down to a litany of weapons on both sides.

Keep an eye on star player Annie Kent, who is currently leading the competition with an impressive 11 tries.

In Round Five, Binalong’s custodian delivered a stunning performance, scoring an incredible five tries against Boorowa.

The speedy fullback will have support from Jamie Duggan, Brooke McKenna, and Bronwyn Pollack, who are all capable of scoring tries and causing a few headaches.

Cootamundra won’t be perturbed by the Brahmans challenge, with the Bullettes boasting their own arsenal.

Emily Guest is the side’s leading try scorer (4) through five rounds, but there’s been no shortage of players finding the line.

With a diverse lineup, the Bullettes are a force to be reckoned with. Guest is just the tip of the iceberg.

Lauren Connell, Maddison Gillies, Kylie Welch, and Lily Welch have all scored three, while Amarli Kelleher, Sasha Louttit, Andie McTavish, and Piper Scott are all ready to make their mark on the try line.

The match is crucial for both teams, as they are currently behind the Harden Hawkettes on the ladder. The outcome will likely impact the final standings at the end of the regular season.

In other Round Six league tag matches, Bungendore are chasing their first win of the season when visiting North Canberra at Kaleen.

A winless UC Stars also want to get off the mark when hosting the Boorowa Roverettes at Raiders Belconnen.

In what should be another good match, the unbeaten Hawkettes host the third-placed Crookwell at McLean Oval.

In the GTS men’s tackle competition, it’s another big round, and the game of the round will likely be between the Cootamundra Bulldogs and Binalong Brahmans.

The top-of-the-table Brahmans will have their mettle tested by the improving Bulldogs, who sit in third position on the ladder.

Both sides can score tries, but Binalong boasts a better defensive record, which could be the key when the going gets tough.

Still, with a chilly forecast, Les Boyd Oval is a terrible away trip when the mercury drops, and a parochial home crowd will help the Bulldogs lift in what should be an enthralling contest.
