The Canberra Raiders have announced changes to their recruitment and development staff, with Chris Hutchison and Jeremy Braun taking on new roles within the club.
Hutchison has moved into the role of NRL Recruitment Manager and will work alongside Senior Recruitment Officer David Warwick on the club's recruitment and retention program.
Braun will take the role of Elite Pathways Coach, previously held by Hutchison.
Hutchison joined the club in 2023 to establish the new position of Elite Pathways Coach and has experience within the Raiders’ coaching and development team, having previously served as Head of Football with Mounties from 2018–2022.
Raiders Head Coach Ricky Stuart said he looked forward to seeing both Hutchison and Braun in their new roles.
“Chris Hutchison has done a wonderful job as Elite Pathways Coach and has set up a system that is helping us provide the best possible coaching across our development programs and pathways,” Stuart said. “Since relocating to Canberra, he’s shown great value to our club, not only in identifying talent, but also in upskilling our coaches so they are well prepared to develop the youth we are recruiting.”
“Jeremy Braun is a local product who’s been involved in rugby league and coaching for several years, and we’re excited to have him join the club and continue the great work Chris has done in the Elite Pathways Coach role.”
Hutchison said he was looking forward to moving into the club's recruitment and retention program and helping to identify and recruit the next generation of Raiders.
“I’m really excited to take on a new challenge with the Raiders,” Hutchison said. “Since starting with the club I’ve seen the talent we have coming through and I want to help the NRL team continue to succeed in the years ahead.
“I’ve worked with Dave (Warwick) previously and alongside him over the past couple of years, and it's great to have someone with his experience and knowledge of the game by my side.”
Jeremy Braun, who has several years of experience playing and coaching rugby league, will now step into the Elite Pathways Coach role. His background includes serving as assistant coach for the Raiders’ Jersey Flegg team and head coach of the Queanbeyan Blues in the Canberra Raiders Cup competition.
Braun said he would bring his own experiences and learnings to the role to work alongside Hutchison, Head Coach Ricky Stuart, and the club's coaching staff at all levels.
“I started my coaching career alongside Justin Giteau in the local competition and then worked with him in the Jersey Flegg program before heading back to the local competition to Coach Queanbeyan,” Braun said. “I’ve had the opportunity to learn from both local footy and the Raiders, and I’ve gained a great understanding from that.”
“It’s also great to be able to learn from Chris about this role and use his knowledge to continue upskilling all the coaches in our pathways system.”
