The Canberra Raiders are urging supporters to dig deep and bid on their special edition ‘Legacy Jerseys’ to help raise as much money as they can for The Cancer Support Group, as the auction closes tonight on www.allbids.com.au
The Canberra Raiders wore their special Legacy jerseys on Friday night for their match against the Bulldogs at GIO Stadium, with the jerseys now being auctioned off to raise money for The Cancer Support Group.
The Auction is taking place through www.allbids.com.au with the proceeds being given to the Raiders local partner charity The Cancer Support Group, which supports families affected by Cancer in the Eden-Monaro and ACT regions.
The Legacy Jerseys feature the names of every Raiders Player to have played for the Raiders from 1982 until the end of the 2013 season, as well as the clubs original logo and premiership seasons (1989, 1990 and 1994).
The game on Friday night celebrated the 20 year anniversary of the 1994 Grand Final, with several players from the Raiders premiership team including Laurie Daley, Brett Mullins, Ken Nagas and Steve Walters all attending the match.
The 17 jerseys worn in the match are signed by the player who wore the jersey in the match and are being auctioned off on www.allbids.com.au. An extra jersey has been signed by the entire 17 players who play, along with Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart and added to the auction.
Canberra Raiders Captain Terry Campese said the auction was a chance to own part of Raiders history and at the same time support a wonderful local charity.
“The Legacy jersey is a special item as it contains the proud and rich history of the Raiders all on the one jersey,” he said. “The money raised from the auction of the jerseys will go towards a wonderful cause in The Cancer Support Group, which continues to provide support for families who are going through tough times as their loved ones battle Cancer.
“We urge our members and supporters to get behind the cause by bidding for their favourite players jersey and help us to raise as much money as we can for The Cancer Support Group.”
