Canberra Raiders Assistant Coach Matt Parish will leave the club this week, after both the Raiders and Parish mutually agreed to part ways today.
After this year’s Origin series, Parish had informed the Raiders that he would not be part of the Coaching staff for the 2015 season, as he had a desire to live closer to his family.
Parish was on contract until the end of the 2016 season, but both the Raiders and Parish felt leaving now would give both the Raiders a better chance to find his replacement and Parish a better chance to find employment for 2015.
Raiders CEO Don Furner said the decision was in the best interest of both parties.
“Matt sought an early release from the final year of his contract for family reasons and the Raiders were sympathetic to that request," Furner said.
"Both parties agreed it was important for this to happen now to minimise the disruption to the team and maximise the chances of Matt securing his coaching future and the Raiders finding a suitable replacement.
"Matt has been a fantastic asset for us this season and we wish him all the best for his future in the game.”
Parish thanked the Raiders for being understanding to his situation and wished the club all the best in the future.
"I've really enjoyed my time here at the Raiders," Parish said. "There are great people at the club from the administration to the players and coaching staff and I have no doubt that what Ricky is implementing here will see the Raiders return to an NRL powerhouse."
The Raiders will begin looking for Matt’s replacement immediately.
