VIDEO: Raiders players Joel Edwards and Jake Foster, in conjunction with Wing Commander Michael Rowe and Managing Director of Habitat Personnel Gerry Moore, launched the club's 3 Legged Race which will take place on Tuesday the 12th of August.
INFORMATION: The Canberra Raiders in conjunction with Habitat Personnel and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs will be attempting to break a Guinness World Record by staging the largest ever 3-legged race on Tuesday August 12 at Northbourne Oval.
It’s all part of the NRL’s Close the Gap round in round 23 of the competition.
The 3-legged race aims to bring indigenous and non-indigenous Australians together in a bid to achieve the world record which currently stands at 649 pairs of 3-legged racers.
The Canberra Raiders NRL squad will all be part of the event along with the Emeralds and NRL Ambassadors Matt Cooper and Mario Fenech. The Raiders are encouraging members of the public to turn up on the day to help break the record.
All participants will receive a 2 for 1 ticket voucher for the Raiders round 23 match against the Dragons at GIO Stadium.
The event will also feature Indigenous comedian Kevin Kropinyeri who will entertain the crowd, the Air Force will have a hot air balloon on site, while there will be food venders available for those participants who are attending the event during their lunchbreak.
Registrations for the race will start from 11.30am on the day. The race will commence at 12.30pm sharp. Participants are asked to arrive at Northbourne Oval anytime from 11.30am to register and be a part of this Guinness World Record attempt.
The day will also include information marquees from event supporters Habitat Personnel, Oxfam, Defence Force Recruiting, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Defence Housing Australia, Menslink, Headspace, NATSIHWA, community volunteers, Jerseys Megastore, Touch ACT and the Canberra Raiders.
On the day, participants are asked to park and walk to the venue at Northbourne Oval, as the venue will be only accessible to members of the public via the entry on Donaldson Street adjacent to the old Braddon Club site.
Participants will be supplied with leg ties on the day, so save the date, tie your friends together and join us on Tuesday August 12 at Northbourne Oval.
