The Canberra Raiders are proud to announce the signing of former Newcastle Knights hooker Adam Clydsdale.

Clydsdale has played 40 NRL matches for the Knights since making his debut in 2013 and will join the Raiders for the start of pre-season training.

Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart said the signing of Clydsdale was a continuation of the clubs recruitment strategy and he would be a welcome addition to the Raiders roster.

“Our current attitude towards recruitment is bringing in good players and creating depth in important positions,” Stuart said. “Adam is a very talented young footballer and he’ll fit in with what we’re building here at the club.”

Stuart highlighted the excellent seasons by the clubs current hookers in Josh Hodgson and Kurt Baptiste and said Clydsdale would add further competition to the hooking role.

“Josh and Kurt had very strong seasons for the club, with Josh in particular playing every game for us this year,” he said. “Having Adam join us gives us the ability to have three quality hookers at the club and it gives us healthy competition for places in the NRL team each week.”
