Arriving in the Nation’s Capital from the Melbourne Storm, Sisa Waqa immediately impressed the Raiders faithful with his try scoring ability and destructive runs. Waqa joined the Raiders on a two year contract having previously played four seasons at the Storm.

Waqa starred in his first outing for the Raiders at the Auckland 9’s in February, showing his speed and endurance in the testing format. Waqa scored his first try for the Raiders against the Titans in the third pool match.

Waqa scored 6 tries for the Raiders in 2015, after playing in a variety of back line positions that showcased his versatility. Waqa totalled a team high 42 offloads in 2015, while also posting very high numbers for metres gained and tackle breaks.

Waqa proved his worth to the Raiders in his very first match, scoring a try off the wing against the Sharks in Round One. His contribution proved crucial as the Raiders managed to squeeze past the Sharks by four points.

Alternating between wing and centre, Waqa formed part of the excitment machine that was the Raiders backline in 2015.

A former grand final winner with the Storm, Waqa has big game experience that will be of an enormous benefit for the Raiders in season 2016 and beyond.
