Luke Bateman is wary of a wounded St George Illawarra side who will be desperate to get back to winning ways as well on Friday night.

"The Dragons will be fired up to bounce back from their dip in form and we're expecting them to have a good showing," Bateman said.

"The last couple of times we have played the Dragons it has been really close, there have been some great battles in recent history."

Meanwhile Bateman who is a proud Queenslander is looking forward to cheering on his Raiders teammate Josh Papalii in the State of Origin decider tonight.

"I love that Paps plays for Queensland and it makes it easier to support your teammate when he plays for Queensland. We like to have a chat about Origin every now and then which is always good."
