NRL Match Report: Raiders v Rabbitohs

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have beaten the Canberra Raiders 42-22 at Central Coast Stadium on Saturday afternoon, in a match featuring 11 tries.

South Sydney's left edge was clinical, creating 5 of the Rabitohs' 7 tries.

The Rabbitohs opened the scoring in the 3rd minute when Alex Johnston showed some incredible acceleration to beat Blake Austin on the outside and plant the ball on the line.

The Raiders wouldn't get a touch of the ball before South Sydney were over again, with Cody Walker throwing a dummy and finding his way between Austin and Saliva Havili 5 metres out.

The Rabbitohs crossed for their third try in the opening 14 minutes when Robert Jennings finished off a nice backline move to score in the left corner.

The Raiders were over for a try of their own when Nick Cotric showed great speed and agility to beat the Rabbitoh's defence on the outside and stay in the field of play to score.

South Sydney had their forth try when Greg Inglis intercepted an Aiden Sezer pass and ran 85 metres to score under the posts.

On the stroke of half time Elliot Whitehead found his way over the try line after Jack Wighton offloaded the ball to him as he fell to the ground.

Jarrod Croker converted the try to ensure the score line read 24-12 as they headed into the sheds.

Croker was sent to the sin bin 7 minutes after the break when the referee ruled he interfered with Angus Crichton who was in support of Damien Cook making a break.

The Rabbitohs extended their lead when they targeted Croker's vacated centre position with Richard Kennar being the man who scored.

Robert Jennings had his second try of the match when he was left open after Inglis tapped back an Adam Reynolds crossfield kick.

Jason Clark added his name to the list of try scorers when he forced his way over from a few metres out.
Croker then pulled one back for the Raiders, diving over in the corner after a clever flick pass from Wighton.

Whitehead crossed for his second try of the game, and sixth of the season, when he dived on a Sezer grubber to score.

South Sydney Rabbitohs 42 (Tries: Jennings 2, Johnston, Walker, Inglis, Kennar, Clark Goals: Reynolds 7/9) def Canberra Raiders 22 (Tries: Whitehead 2, Cotric, Croker Goals: Croker 3/3, Sezer 0/1)
