Raiders Break Membership Record

The Canberra Raiders are on track to break through the 20,000-member mark for the first time in club history, after announcing a new membership record today.

The Raiders currently sit at 19,319 members in 2018, with just under 700 members to sign up to reach 20,000. This number represents a high percentage of ticketed members, with the Raiders sitting towards the top of the competition in this respect.

Canberra Raiders star Nick Cotric joined Raiders Membership Partner Austbrokers Canberra at GIO Stadium today to help make the announcement.

Cotric said there's nothing better than playing in front of a big crowd at GIO Stadium and that the more members the club had the better it was for the club and playing group.

"I love running out at home to the Viking Clap in front of a big crowd and I know it gets the boys fired up," Cotric said. "To break the record is just awesome and I hope we can get the 20,000 before the end of the season."

Austbrokers Canberra are the club's official membership partner and have been instrumental in helping the club reach consecutive membership records in both 2017 and 2018.

The introduction of the $1Million Membership Promotion has been a driving force behind the increased membership number, with a host of other initiatives helping the Raiders to grow their membership base.

Managing Director of Austbrokers Canberra, Greg Johnston, said they're proud to be associated with the Raiders membership program and encourage people who are yet to become members to sign up before the end of the season.

"It's fantastic to see the club break another membership record and we're proud to partner with the Raiders around their membership program," Johnston said. "We hope to see a few more sign up before the end of the season and get to 20,000."

Raiders Commercial & Marketing Manager Jason Mathie said the club hoped to hit 20,000 by the end of June before they close off the sign-ups for the current season.

"We're still optimistic of hitting 20,000 before the end of the season. We want to thank Greg Johnston and the team from Austbrokers Canberra who have helped us break this record again this year after setting it in 2017," Mathie said. "Less than three seasons ago we were scratching to reach 10,000 members, so to nearly double that in three seasons sings volumes about to what we've been able to achieve in terms of better engaging our fans to come to the match and be members."

As a token of the club's appreciation towards Austbrokers Canberra and their continued support of club membership, they have also announced Managing Director Greg Johnston as the clubs Viking Ambassador for the final home game of the season against the Rabbitohs in Member Appreciation round.
