Austbrokers Canberra Raiders Cup Round 12 Preview

Round 12 of the Austbrokers Canberra Raiders Cup is highlighted by the Match of the Round between the Yass Magpies and Woden Valley Rams.

Yass Magpies v Woden Valley Rams – 3:15 pm, Saturday, June 30, Walker Park / Live Stream

The Yass Magpies host the Woden Valley Rams as two of the in-form sides in the competition go head to head.

The Magpies are in the top four for the first time this season after winning their last five matches much to the pleasure of coach Jarrad Teka.

"We've been tested in our depth so to get the results we have been getting is very pleasing and shows the character that we have at the club," Teka said. "Everyone is willing to do their job, we've had a lot of blokes playing out of position and going well in the position we chuck them in."

Despite the club starting to get players back on the field, Teka said that he is likely to play again this weekend after having played two matches already this season.

The Woden Valley Rams are undefeated in their last five fixtures and prop Tom Robertson is hoping his side can claim the two points on Saturday.

"There's a really good feel around the club at the moment," Robertson said. "The boys have a lot of belief especially after some of our performances against some of the better teams in the competition."

Tuggeranong Bushrangers v Goulburn Workers Bulldogs – 2:15 pm, Saturday, June 30, Greenway

The top of the table Tuggeranong Bushrangers will be hoping to bounce back from their Round 10 loss against Woden when they host the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs.

Having had the bye last weekend, the Bushrangers will be rested and hoping to repeat their performance from the corresponding fixture earlier this year.

Goulburn, on the other hand, are hoping to maintain their recent form after winning their last two matches.

With only an outside chance of making the finals, Goulburn needs to continue winning to narrow the five point margin between themselves and the top four.

Gungahlin Bulls vs West Belconnen Warriors - 3 pm, Saturday, June 30, Gungahlin Enclosed Oval

The West Belconnen Warriors will be looking to keep the pressure on the table-topping Tuggeranong Bushrangers this week with a win potentially seeing the Warriors move back into first place on the ladder.

Last Saturday's hard-fought win against the Queanbeyan Blues put them back on the right track after some mixed results in recent weeks. They raced to five straight wins to start the season before hitting a roadblock with a narrow 18-16 win over the last-placed Belconnen United Sharks their only win over a four-week period.

This week they will be looking to grab the two competition points against the Gungahlin Bulls who have struggled this season. The Bulls have just the one win to their name and it is a big ask for them to upset the second-placed Warriors this week.

Queanbeyan Blues vs Belconnen United Sharks - 3 pm, Saturday, June 30, Seiffert Oval

The Blues will be looking to end a three-game losing streak this week after falling short again last week against the Warriors.

The low scoring loss saw them drop to fifth, but they'll see a clash against the winless Sharks as the perfect opportunity to turn around their recent struggles and move back into the top four.

With just three competition points separating third and sixth the Blues can't afford any slip-ups this week.

The Sharks are still searching for their first win of the season after going down to the Yass Magpies last week. They've pushed a number of sides right until the end but are still searching for that elusive victory.
