The Canberra Raiders’ Jersey Flegg team will be looking for a win during this week’s triple header when they host the Parramatta Eels at GIO Stadium this Sunday afternoon.

The team suffered a narrow loss against the Sydney Roosters last week, going down 22-20 in what was a game riddled with errors from either side.

The Eels head into the match in search of their first win of the season, after going down last round to the Cronulla Sharks 38-4.

Raiders coach Ash Barnes said that regardless of the loss, he’s impressed with the team’s ability to keep pushing towards the victory, even with the early sin binning of halfback Kyle Paterson.

“The players showed a lot of resilience to be able to keep pushing in that ten minute period, and we actually scored when he [Paterson] was off so they did quite well,” said Barnes.

The loss to the Roosters was the Raiders first of the season, and whilst it was a tough one to take, Barnes has so much confidence in his unchanged side to take the victory this weekend.

“There are a lot of positives to take out [of the game], no one likes losing but there are a lot of areas we’ve improved on over the first few weeks,” said Barnes. “I’ve been really impressed with our competitiveness as a squad, the boys continue to work really hard for each other.”

With Toby Westcott still a few weeks away from returning from injury, Kyle Paterson and Jarrett Subloo will continue their partnership in the halves as the Raiders names an unchanged line-up.

The game against the Eels will be the first curtain raiser for both the Canterbury Cup match the NRL clash later on, with the Jersey Flegg match kicking off at 1:50pm at GIO Stadium.
