Blumers Lawyers CRC Round 4 Preview

Round 4 is headlined by a top of the table clash, while Joel Monaghan is named to make his Queanbeyan Blues debut on Sunday.

Match of the Round: Tuggeranong Bushrangers v Goulburn Workers Bulldogs
3pm, Saturday May 4 – Greenway

Heading into Round 4 only two sides have a 100% winning record this season but that will come to an end after this weekend.

The Tuggeranong Bushrangers have beaten both Belconnen sides in the opening two rounds but they haven’t been easy matches as they beat the Sharks by two points last Saturday.

Jarrad Kennedy has begun life at Tuggeranong in fine form as the Bushrangers have found plenty of joy down the right edge with Kennedy and Drury Low combining well.

Izzy Titor makes his debut for the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs replacing injured captain Matt Worboys. The new recruit will be given the task of containing Kennedy in what is set be an intriguing matchup.

Goulburn have been impressive in dispatching the Queanbeyan Kangaroos, Yass Magpies and Woden Valley Rams and will be looking for yet another win. If they do achieve it, the Bulldogs will have matched their number of 2018 wins.

James Aubusson and Haydon Hodge lead the try scoring tallies early this season with the duo both scoring five tries a piece.

Woden this fixture on the back of their first loss for the season. The defending premiers were outplayed by Goulburn as they tasted defeat for the first time in 15 matches.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos v Yass Magpies
3pm, Saturday May 4 – Seears Workwear Oval

The Queanbeyan Kangaroos are still chasing their first win of the season as they prepare to host the Yass Magpies.

The Kangaroos have had a draw and two losses from the opening three rounds but will be hoping to produce a consistent performance as Reece Robinson settles in at fullback.

The Yass Magpies claimed their first win of the season as they defeated the Bulls last weekend. David Faaeteete and Phil Sparnon both scored hattricks for the Magpies and the duo will be hoping to maintain their try scoring form.

West Belconnen Warriors v Queanbeyan Blues
3pm, Sunday, May 5 – Raiders Belconnen

Joel Monaghan could make his debut for the Queanbeyan Blues after the club announced that the 37 year old had joined the club during the week.

The former Australian and New South Wales representative will bolster the Blues’ backline as they look to build upon a solid start the season.

The West Belconnen Warriors will provide a stern test after they found their form after a Round 1 loss.

The new halves pairing of Bobby Roberts and Brent Crisp have linked up well in recent weeks and will be looking to provide the Warriors with a win as they play in front of their home crowd for the first time this season.
