A hattrick to Jennifer Ruiz has helped the Queanbeyan Blues claim a 58-0 win against the Harden Hawks at Seiffert Oval on Friday night.
The Blues opened the scoring in the fourth minute as Myarnee Kingi-Rawiri ran straight and hard at the Hawk’s line.
Jennifer Ruiz doubled the Blues score after she received an excellent cut out pass from Jacinta Williams and forced her way over the line.
Ruiz doubled her tally midway through the first half as Williams and Payge-Louise Condon linked up before sending the ball right to the grateful hands of Ruiz.
The tries kept coming for Queanbeyan who quickly scored another after Maddison Harney strolled over the line on the back of a set move from a scrum.
Chelsea Stuckey crashed over before Taylor Thorpe scored right on halftime to give Queanbeyan a 26-0 lead at the break.
It only took 90 seconds of action in the second half until the Blues scored again. Williams once again was provider as her pass found Cassidy Whitehouse who showed plenty of strength to beat three defenders to score.
The Hawks piled pressure onto the Blues as Sharni Manton’s kick forced an error and gave Harden a full set 20 meters from the line. However, the Blues’ defence was resolute and they quickly made their way upfield where Condon scored.
Condon scored her second moments later with a try from dummy half before Jacinta Williams broke the line to score under the posts.
Whitehouse also had her second of the night when she gathered a ball from Thorpe to score.
Ruiz rounded off the match with a hattrick as a short ball from Thorpe put through a gap to see the match finish 58-0 in favour of the Blues.
