The gap between the top four and the chasing pack widened this weekend as the Goulburn Workers Bulldogs and Queanbeyan Kangaroos claimed crucial wins.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 32 (Tries: L Ingram, N Ngere, K Pagura, F Tonga, D Watt, T Williams; Goals: L Ingram 4) d West Belconnen Warriors 26 (Tries: A McDonald 2, J Roberts, R Roberts, B Withers; Goals: R Roberts 3)

The Queanbeyan Kangaroos moved one step closer to securing a top four position with a six point win against the West Belconnen Warriors.

The Kangaroos scored early tries through Nukurua Ngere, Kaine Pagura and Daniel Watt and didn’t look back.

Midway through the second half, the Kangaroos extended their lead to 32-12 before the Warriors started storming back into contention.

Andrew McDonald sealed a double, while a length of the field try from Brandon Withers and a solo effort from Bobby Roberts saw the Warriors fall six points short.

 

Goulburn Workers Bulldogs 49 (Tries: P Cooke 3, D Rota 2, H Hodge, T Greenwood, M Cornish, N Cornish; Goals: C Hart 6; Field Goal: M Cornish) d Woden Valley Rams 6 (Try: M Souter; Goal: L Withers)

The Goulburn Workers Bulldogs claimed a big win as Woden’s finals aspirations took a massive blow.

The home side started brightly and opened the scoring through Nick Cornish before the halfback set up Tyson Greenwood.

Dillon Rota scored a double inside the opening 30 minutes before Pat Cooke scored his first of the afternoon.

Mitch Cornish scored a field goal just before the break before scoring a try after the break.

Mitch Souter scored the Rams first try of the afternoon late in the game but it wasn’t enough as Pat Cooke sealed his hattrick late in the match.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers 44 (Tries: W Alexander 2, C Massen 2, N Smith 2, T Eldridge, A Oakley; Goals: J Mitchell 4, M O’Malveney 2) d Belconnen United Sharks 18 (Tries: I Bell, A Agnew, S Tupuola; Goals: T Aroha-Tuinauvai 3)

The Tuggeranong Bushrangers continued their winning ways with a big win over a resurgent Belconnen United Sharks.

Connor Massen scored a first half double while Nathan Smith scored as the Bushrangers held a 14-6 lead at the break.

Sonny Tupuola kept the Sharks in the match with a try off the back of a determined run, before Glen Buttriss set up Aidan Agnew as the Sharks moved to within eight points.

However, Nathan Smith completed his double before Wez Alexander also scored a late double to seal the result for Tuggeranong.

Gungahlin Bulls 34 (Tries: R Macanawai 2, I Vatanitawake, C Smith, D Aylott, L Skidmore; Goals: D Hately 4, I Vatanitawake)  d Yass Magpies 6 (Try: T Vanisi; Goal: C Rawlinson)

Two tries to Ratu Jone Pio Macanawai helped the Gungahlin Bulls claimed their third win of the season as they beat the Yass Magpies.

The Gungahlin Bulls scored two tries in the first half to give themselves a lead before Noa Vanisi ran 70 metres to put the Magpies on the board.

However the Bulls scored again just before the break to give themselves a 14-6 lead at the break.

Gungahlin proved too powerful in the second half as they continued their try scoring ways to seal a 34-6 win.
