The Sydney Roosters were able to hold out a determined Raiders outfit 22-18 at GIO Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Raiders enjoyed the majority of possession over the course of the contest with 58% of the ball.

The home side recorded a high completion rate than their opponents with 30/41 of their sets completed for a rate of 73%. The visitors were not far behind with 28/39 of their sets completed for a rate of 72%.

Canberra made 195 runs for a total of 1687 running metres while the Eastern Suburbs side made 1577 metres from 159 runs.

In attack, Stuart’s side made 18 offloads compared to the Roosters three. Trent Robinson’s men however made three linebreaks compared to the Raiders two.

In defence, the Roosters made 359 tackles with 46 missed while the Raiders made 312 with only 30 missed.

The reigning premiers conceded a total of nine penalties and made 13 errors while the green machine conceded eight penalties and made 10 errors.

Individual statistics:

Jack Wighton was outstanding for the green machine as he ran for 177 metres while collecting six tackle breaks and 215 kick metres.

Josh Papalii continues his outstanding season for the Raiders as the prop forward ran for 173 metres while making two tackle breaks and completing three offloads.

Josh Hodgson made the most tackles for the Raiders with 40. He was closely followed by John Bateman on 35 and Josh Papalii on 32.
