Game Day Guide: Raiders v Sea Eagles

The Raiders return home to GIO Stadium this Sunday when they take on the Manly Sea Eagles at GIO Stadium.

With a big crowd expected, members and fans are encouraged to get to the ground early to avoid any queues or delays prior to kick-off.

There are three matches on Sunday, so plenty of reasons to get there early!

Match Day Charity: Deaf Australia

Match Day Charity Deaf Australia is the deaf-led peak organisation representing deaf people in Australia. They promote advancement of human rights and equality for deaf people. Deaf Australia is for all deaf, hard of hearing and non-deaf people and organisations that use and/or accept and respect Auslan (Australian Sign Language).

Volunteers will be sharing important information and collecting donations for this worthwhile organisation committed to building a better Australia for Deaf people.

Pre-Game Entertainment

Gates open at 11.30am Sunday with a triple header on offer. First up is the Jersey Flegg match between the Raiders and Sea Eagles at 11.45am followed by Mounties v Blacktown at 1.40pm. The NRL match between the Raiders and Sea Eagles will kick-off at 4.05pm.    

Every home game we’ll have the “Bartercard Bucking Ball” up and running in the West Forecourt, so drop by and give it a go!

The Maccas Kid Zone will be up and running, with a jumping castle, face painting and colouring in. This will also be available every week this season in the West Forecourt.

In the East Forecourt we’ll have the Raiders inflatable Viking Ship.

Amaroo School Band will be performing in the West Forecourt.

Huawei Mini-footy will be happening pre-game this week, during halftime of the Canterbury Cup as the stars of tomorrow have the chance to play on GIO Stadium.

There is also a special National Zoo and Aquarium activation in the forecourt for fans to check out.

Cam and Ben will then take you through all the game day news and updates thanks to Channel Nine Canberra before kick-off, including an Interview with Viking Ambassador Malcolm Johnston.

Coca-Cola Sing to Win is back bigger and better in 2019, with fans attending the match having the chance to win a $250 Raiders Shop voucher, by singing along to the song of the day using a Coca-Cola product as a microphone.

Just before the Viking Clap we’ll be attempting an 'unofficial'  World record, with Huawei and Deaf Australia. CLICK HERE for more information on the attempt.

McDonald’s Powerplay

The McDonalds Powerplay is back again this year too with a new and improved feature. If it doesn’t go off in the first half, the team will get another crack during the second half to score and win for the fans attending!

Halftime Entertainment

The Huawei Hot Seat is on each home match, with one lucky fan having the chance to win a brand-new Huawei Handset! All you need to do is be sitting in your seat at halftime to potentially win.

There will be a Deaf ACT Touch demonstration game happening at halftime. 

This week’s McDonald’s Match Day dance performance will be by PLAY – The Dance Agency

And the popular Duxton Dance Cam will be at halftime this week, to keep you moving and grooving before the teams return to the field for the second half.

Homes for Homes Points for Cash

Every home match at GIO Stadium is a chance to raise money for the Homes for Homes charity, with Denman Prospect donating $100 for every point the Raiders score this season.

We currently sit at $19,000!

ActewAGL SMS Man of the Match

This season fans at GIO Stadium will have the opportunity to vote on the man of the match each week thanks to ActewAGL. Keep an eye out on the big screen on match day and you can vote and possibly win a $100 voucher thanks to Sportsman’s Warehouse

Post-Match Canberra Milk Footy’s

Each home game in 2019, Junior Members will have the chance to come onto the field post-match and meet one of the Raiders stars.

The Junior Member will give each player two Canberra Milk mini-footys to sign, one footy goes to the Junior Member and one will be thrown into the crowd by the Raiders player to thank Members and fans for their attendance.

There are four merchandise outlets at GIO Stadium, full of the latest Raiders merchandise to show your support for the team! The outlets are located outside the west gate, in the East and West forecourts, and also in the Southern Inner Bowl.

Getting to GIO Stadium

Public transport will be the best and easiest option to travel to and from GIO Stadium on Gameday.

Parking

Please note due to the high level of patrons expected on Sunday, GIO Stadium are encouraging the use of public transport options. Alternatively, carpooling is encouraged.

Overflow parking is available at the University of Canberra accessed via College St and buses will have some capacity to pick up on College St which is a 20-minute walk to/from the stadium.

There are 2 main entry points for the Stadium. Public car parking is available at a number of locations around GIO Stadium Canberra’s precinct.

Car parking is available at a cost of $10.00 (GST incl) per car however fans can take advantage of the ‘Early Bird Parking Offer’. Fans who get in early and arrive within 45 minutes after the gates open on match days will pay a reduced parking fee of $7.

Important Parking Information

There are rules in sport and rules when parking!

Parking safely and legally at local sporting events is important for the safety of our kids and those kids that may be attending from interstate.

Illegal and dangerous parking reduces visibility and creates a potential safety risk especially for children.

Access Canberra advises that drivers who disregard the road rules and parking signs at local sporting events risk a fine.

By parking by the rules you are keeping us all safe.

Don’t park:

· on the verge - $120 fine

· in no parking zones - $120 fine

· on footpaths or across driveways - $120 fine

· in bus zones - $162 fine

· in no stopping zones - $270 fine

· in mobility (disabled) spaces - $600 fine.

Advised GIO Stadium Service Changes

Stadium Management has advised the Raiders that ATMs are no longer at the venue due to low demand. All food and beverage outlets now have EFTPOS / tap and go facilities.

Additionally, as there is currently no agreement in place between TAB and the venue, TAB facilities are no longer available on site.

Report it to Sort it

If you notice any anti-social, discriminatory behaviour or other issues at the match, please text “Assist” to 0455 883 228 for assistance. Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and will likely result in exclusion from the venue.

Bag Searches

To ensure the safety of players and fans, all bags will be checked at the gate, so please arrive early to avoid delays. Please remove jackets, blankets and other bulky items from your bag prior to entry.

Rideshare & Uber

A designated drop off and pick-up area will be available on Leverrier St in front of the AIS Visitors centre or AIS Arena on the WEST side of the stadium. For Rideshare / Uber services use ‘AIS Arena’ or ‘AIS Visitors Centre’ as your destination and pick up location, please do not use ‘GIO Stadium’.

Taxis

Taxis will drop off and pick up at the taxi rank outside the WEST gate only.

If you can’t make it to GIO Stadium there are options available.

The NRL match is live on Fox League Channel 502.

There is also the NRL Digital Pass available to watch the match.

Any current members with enquiries on the day can visit the membership booth at either the East ticket box or West Ticket Box.

Membership Ticketing Replacement:

All members who have misplaced/lost their membership card can visit the Membership/Ticket Collection window located at the West or East Gate. Proof of identification will be needed to print off replacement tickets for the day.

Membership Complaints:

Should any members have a game day complaint they can visit the Membership/Ticket Collection window at the West Gate.
